When it comes to (legally) seeing inside the homes of people you don’t know, there are two top ways to do it: Browse the House Tours on our sister site Apartment Therapy , or check out Houzz . (It’s not being nosey! It’s called looking for inspiration!) Curious to know what other people are checking out? (Okay, maybe that’s a little nosey!) This was the most popular House Tour on all of Apartment Therapy in 2020. And Houzz rounded up this list of the 10 most popular kitchens on the site in 2020. We love all the kitchens on that list, but the winner of the number-one spot really stood out to us … for being the most 2020-y kitchen of all time. Let’s take a look!

Yes, this kitchen is downright gorgeous. It’s got a chunky quartz countertop, a cool herringbone backsplash throughout, industrial pendant lights, and sleek shaker cabinets. It’s also incredibly functional for 2020 and beyond.

See, the designer — Melinda Woodruff of M Woodruff Design — was asked to update the kitchen in Annapolis, Maryland, so that it could double as a home office. (Because, who hasn’t used their kitchen as an office at some point these last 10 months?) The new island is made out of durable walnut wood and not only features little shelves for laptop storage, but there are also electrical outlets in the back there so that the homeowners can recharge their devices without cords cluttering up the countertop surface. There are also bonus drawers on one end of the island to store papers and other work supplies.

Plus, there’s a full-depth refrigerator (for storing lots of groceries picked up during a single shopping trip) which is surrounded by extra-deep cabinets so that the fridge doesn’t feel as large as it is.

While working from home definitely has its ups and down, spending a day on Zoom calls at this island doesn’t sound too terrible.

What’s your favorite part of this kitchen?
