My love for Costco knows no bounds. (I find myself yearning for long, leisurely walks through the warehouses’ collection of household staples, luxury goods, and groceries. For now, though, I’ll have to settle for quick-and-strategic little dates with my favorite store.)

While I have a decently long shopping list, this month I have my heart set on a particular item that Costco carries in bulk — one that will get me through the coldest month of the year, Valentine’s Day, and all the baking projects in between. The object of my affection? Kirkland Signature Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips .

Buy : Kirkland Signature Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips , $7.99 for 72 ounces (Note: the price is $11.49 online, but $7.99 in stores.)

So what does one do with 4.5 pounds of chocolate chips? The good news is that I didn’t have to stretch myself too hard to figure out the answer to that question, proving that this is an excellent investment.

Whether you’re making a heart-shaped puff pastry dipped in melted chocolate chips , chocolate-covered strawberries , or DIY chocolate mousse for Valentine’s Day, these chips will carry you through. Hallmark Holidays aside, this bag will come in handy for a whole slew of other everyday, weeknight treats, too.

In my household, these chocolate chip cookies are an obvious place to start, but I also like to turn them into a cookie cake to mix things up a bit. These desperation brownies take just minutes to prepare and are mixed in the pan they bake in, making them the perfect project for the littlest cooks in the house. My family also likes to use chocolate chips for that classic back-of-the-box recipe for puppy chow .

It was pretty hard to stop imagining ways to “use up” this bulk bag of chocolate chips once I got started — so much so, that I’ll probably have to restock my stash sooner than I thought!
