Brush Up on Your Canning Skills
A series of webinars from Penn State Extension covers the basics of food preservation.
The growing season has barely gotten underway, but it’s not too soon to extend the life of the harvest. Canning, pickling, drying and other methods of food preservation will be covered in a series of webinars by Penn State Extension. They start June 9 with an introduction to drying, followed by pressure canning (June 22), steam canning (June 30) and water bath canning (July 26). These 90-minute recorded sessions will be sent to those who register. An interactive session called “Home Food Preservation: Ask the Experts” will also be held at noon on June 28. Some sessions are free, others have a $5 fee.
