The 10 Best Groceries to Buy from Trader Joe’s If You Have an Air Fryer
published about 1 hour agoI’m a member of two different Trader Joe’s Facebook groups (the love runs deep), and both feeds are chock-full of people sharing air fryer ideas for their TJ’s hauls (plus the cook times and temperatures that have worked for them). By the looks of it, it appears that the store sells a jackpot of groceries that lend themselves perfectly to the air fryer.
Buy NowIf you have an air fryer and are a Trader Joe’s fan, I highly recommend joining Trader Joe’s Meal Ideas for Busy People and Trader Joe’s Meal Ideas for Busy Moms on Facebook, for countless ideas of what to cook in it.
In the meantime, here are 10 groceries to get you started.
1. Frozen Hash Browns
While you can microwave these frozen hash brown patties, inside sources say they’re infinitely tastier when prepared in an air fryer. If you want them to be shatteringly crisp and golden-brown, that’s the cooking method for you.
2. Halloumi
I saw a member of a Trader Joe’s fan group enjoying a plate of air-fried halloumi cubes as a summer evening appetizer — and now it’s all I can think about. You can find a package of sliced halloumi cheese in the cheese section, of course.
3. Sesame Teriyaki Chicken Wing Sections
According to a member of Trader Joe’s Meal Ideas for Busy People , these pre-marinated chicken wings have air fryer instructions printed right on the package. No guesswork here! Perhaps Trader Joe’s will start adding it to more items in the near future?
4. Kung Pao Tempura Cauliflower
These battered cauliflower bites are perfection when cooked in an air fryer. Prepare them straight from frozen, add the sauce pouch that comes in the bag, and voila! You have the perfect appetizer or side dish.
5. Frozen Artichoke Hearts
TJ’s frozen artichoke hearts are a widely beloved item among Kitchn staffers because you can skip all the prep work required to enjoy this pesky veg. Another reason to love them? They’re a heaven-sent finger food when cooked in an air fryer. Pair with a dipping sauce of your choice and you’re all set.
6. Buffalo Style Chicken Poppers
When in doubt, any frozen food with a fried exterior is your air fryer’s best friend. Take these Buffalo Style Chicken Poppers, for example …
7. Cauliflower Gnocchi
Literally any of TJ’s gnocchi options are ideal to cook in your air fryer. Start with cauliflower gnocchi, then kale, sweet potato … maybe even the gorgonzola gnocchi! There is gno(cchi) limit. (Get it?)
8. Mandarin Orange Chicken
It goes without saying that this fan-favorite frozen dinner cooks impeccably in the air fryer. But I’ll say it anyway! This is a no-brainer, hands-off dinner.
9. Breaded Fried Ravioli
These frozen ravioli get perfectly toasted in the air fryer. Sprinkle them with cheese, dip them in jarred marinara sauce, and you have yourself the easiest dinner ever.
10. Frozen Mashed Potatoes
When I first learned of the miracle that is TJ’s frozen mashed potatoes, I couldn’t believe my eyes. Open the bag and you’ll find mashed potato “coins” — you’re supposed to, well, mash them up, but you can just pop them right into your air fryer to make little toasted potato tots.
What’s your favorite Trader Joe’s item to toss in the air fryer?
