The Most Underrated Section at Trader Joe’s You’re Probably Overlooking
published NowIf you know someone who’s obsessed with all things Trader Joe’s, chances are you’ve heard them go on, and on (and on, and on) about the frozen aisle … the dips … the snacks … the nuts … the chocolate … the WINE. But have you ever had an impassioned discussion with someone about the Trader Joe’s cracker selection? (Um, if you have, please point them in my direction because I want to be friends.) Because I don’t have any friends to talk to about the Trader Joe’s cracker selection ( yet) , I’ll just tell you, my captive audience.
I don’t know about your Trader Joe’s, but at my location (in Chelsea, New York), the crackers are peculiarly placed smack dab in the middle of the frozen aisle. To be fair, the crackers aren’t physically sitting in the freezers, but they are displayed on shelves that sit right on top of them. So while you’re getting your chicken gyoza and frozen artichoke hearts, you can peruse the foundational elements of your next grazing tray. Random, I know. Don’t think about it too much or your brain will hurt!
Despite the fact that the real estate doesn’t quite make sense to me, I am deeply devoted to pretty much all of the offerings in this aisle. Not only are they great with cheese (of which Trader Joe’s has an excellent selection), but they also pair supremely well with dips (of which Trader Joe’s also has an excellent selection). Accoutrements aside, every single cracker I have tried from Trader Joe’s has also tasted *chef’s kiss* on its own. Need I say more? I will!
Here are my favorite crackers that you should keep an eye out for.
1. Organic Garlic Naan Crackers, $2.99
These crispy little bites are the cracker version of Trader Joe’s widely beloved frozen garlic naan. So there’s absolutely nothing not to like about them.
2. Everything But the Gluten Norwegian Crispbread, $2.99
If you want an extremely sturdy cracker, these “ crispbreads ,” which are cut into “two-bite sized” crackers, are for you! They’re seasoned with a special mix that’s Everything but the Bagel Seasoning-esque — plus, they’re gluten-free.
3. Fig & Olive Crisps (& Raisin Rosemary Crisps), $3.99
I’m really passionate about crackers (as I have been demonstrating) and some of my very favorite non-Trader Joe’s ones are sold at Whole Foods — and are expensive. (They’re called Lesley Stowe Raincoast Crisps and cost $9 a box.) Because I’m not in the position to spend that kind of cracker money (unless it’s a special occasion), I love these dupes from TJ’s. They’re chock-full of luxurious add-ins like dried fruits and herbs.
4. Red Chili Scalloped Crackers, $1.49
I bought these fun, scallop-edged crackers on a whim during the pandemic for the first time and now they’re pretty much in my cart every shopping trip. These are SPICY and complement every cheese I’ve paired them with.
5. 3-Seed Beet Crackers, $1.99
It’s a cracker — but also a veggie! If you want to add a gorgeous purple/red hue to your grazing tray, these flavorful bites are for you.
What’s your favorite cracker at Trader Joe’s?
