The $8 Hack That’ll Make Storing Your Foil and Parchment Paper a Million Times Better

If you looked at this post title and thought, It’s not all that hard to store foil and parchment paper , you would not be wrong. The long boxes can go in a drawer or get stacked in a cabinet — and they’re fine . For the most part, you probably don’t even think about them, right? But what if we were to tell you there was a better way? A better way that would free up some storage space, make it easier to rip off a piece of foil, and make your friends and all who visit think you’re a creative genius. Well, get ready, because that’s exactly what we’re here to say.

We have two methods to share with you. And they both call for some inexpensive Command hooks .

First up is this idea that’s all over the internet. You simply poke the holes in on the side of the box and then affix two Command hooks on a wall or cabinet door so that the hook parts face in (instead of upwards). The idea is that you can squeeze in a box of foil, parchment paper, or plastic wrap and the hooks will hold the box in place. When the roll is empty, pull it out and swap in the next box.

We clearly love this idea, but we do have concerns of how well the hooks will hold up over time. (That’s a lot of squeezing and pushing!) So we took this idea and ran with it. Instead of affixing the hooks inward, we came up with the idea of hanging them like normal and then threading a small dowel through each box and dropping it into the hook (like you’re hanging a curtain, essentially). This way, you can use the hack again and again without having to worry about the hooks breaking off on you.

Set this up on a free wall in your pantry or on the back of a cabinet door (just make sure to work around the shelves so that the door can still close properly) and prepare yourself for all the space you’re about to free up!
