Just about anything is marvelous drenched in garlic butter, including, but not limited to, steak , mushrooms , and potatoes . Tortellini is no different. Take your favorite store-bought cheese tortellini, boil it quickly, then toss it in a garlicky butter bath brightened with freshly squeezed lemon juice, and you have the ultimate easy weeknight dinner that feels surprisingly fancy.

An Upgraded Approach to Buttered Noodles That’s Just as Easy

If buttered noodles are your comfort food love language, you’ll want to add this recipe to your weeknight dinner roster ASAP. It’s just as easy, but because you’re reaching for cheese tortellini and adding garlic and lemon juice, it’s a dish that feels worthy of a glass of your favorite wine. Don’t forget to finish each bowl with a shower of grated Parmesan cheese.

Ingredients

  • 4 cloves

    garlic

  • 2

    (9-ounce) packages fresh cheese tortellini, or 1 (16 to 20-ounce) package frozen tortellini

  • 4 tablespoons

    unsalted butter

  • 1/2

    medium lemon

  • Kosher salt

  • Freshly ground black pepper

  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over medium-high heat. Meanwhile, mince 4 garlic cloves.

  2. Add the tortellini to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Meanwhile, melt 4 tablespoons unsalted butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and sauté until fragrant, 1 minute. Remove from the heat, squeeze in the juice of 1/2 lemon, and season with kosher salt and black pepper.

  3. When the tortellini is ready, drain in a colander. Add the tortellini to the sauce and toss to coat. Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese.

Storage: Leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container up to 4 days.
