HGTV Stars Share the Easiest Way to Refresh Your Kitchen Cabinets — No Paint Required

published about 2 hours ago

If you find yourself itching to revamp your kitchen cabinets , you’re far from alone. Sure, you can’t go wrong with a fresh coat of paint . And while painting can be easy enough, HGTV hosts Jenny and Dave Marrs shared a DIY method that’s even simpler to execute: switching out the hardware.

The stars of HGTV’s “ Fixer to Fabulous ,” which premiered its second season in December, says that an easy way to upgrade dated kitchen cabinets is to replace the hardware. But we’re not just talking about switching in the same knobs and calling it a day. Jenny suggests getting creative and using different cabinet hardware styles and metals in the same room to make it feel customized and special.

“I think people can get nervous with mixing the hardware and the metals in general. You have to do it sparingly, but if you do it right, and you don’t go too crazy, it gives it some personality and makes it a little more elevated,” Jenny told our friends at Apartment Therapy.

You can use a combination of latches and knobs, for example, in a gold finish, or you can use a combination of gold and rose gold metallics but use only knobs on all cabinets. As long as you’re being thoughtful, keeping the cabinet colors in mind, and not go overboard with mixing too much, you’ll be able to strike a balance that instantly makes the kitchen feel refreshed and personalized — without having to lay out tarp.
