It’s no secret that here at Kitchn, we are in love with all things East Fork Pottery . The North Carolina-based ceramics company produces incredibly thoughtful, timeless dinnerware that’s built to withstand the rigors of everyday use. Their #TheMug is already an icon in the Hall of Fame dinnerware category (if such a thing existed), and every time they launch a new glaze or design it sells out within hours. Which brings us to this piece of excellent news: Starting Sunday, March 14 at noon ET , East Fork is adding a brand new product to their permanent collection . They’re calling it The Coupe .

“Not a bowl, not a plate, just the perfect vessel for foods with sloshy sauces, a pile of pasta, and an entree salad,” explains East Fork’s co-founder Connie Matisse via an email interview. Measuring at about 10.75″ x 2″ , The Coupe is a result of consistent requests that the brand has received over the years from customers, chefs, and food stylists. The low-slung, sloped, wide profile makes the bowled plate beautifully suited for serving up composed dishes. “In our house, it makes appearances at the table several times a week, but always when I’m serving cioppino — a dish that conjures up so many memories of birthday celebrations with my Grandpa Joe,” explains Matisse. “I love piling the vessel high with shellfish and ladling the broth tableside. It’s no extra work, but the gesture always seems to say, ‘I love you and it’s a pleasure to bring you pleasure.’” No, I’m not crying, you’re crying.

The Coupe will be available in the brand’s core colors , including their newest brownish-pink glaze Pinto . Priced at $68, The Coupe is also dishwasher and microwave safe, like all East Fork Pottery. So while I’ll be reserving my Coupe for my most delicately prepared meals (like my grandma’s irresistible caramel pudding — yum!), I’m thrilled that I don’t have to treat it with any extra care and attention.

Watch More In Organize & Clean

Keep in mind that The Coupe is made to order and will take about eight weeks to get to your doorstep, which means it’ll arrive just in time to serve poached pears soaked in a light summer wine, chilled gazpacho, or grilled veggies heaped on top of bright, leafy greens. But first thing’s first: Get your hands on one before it sells out.
