Your shower probably isn’t the grossest part of your home in terms of germs, thanks to all that hot water and shampoo that regularly washes over the surfaces. But what about all that soap scum, body grease, and hard water buildup? Let’s just say those things won’t clean themselves. Luckily, one of our favorite TikTok follows, Texas-based professional house cleaner Vanesa Amaro , has a brilliant tip that she calls “the best hack of your life.” In fact, at the end of the video, she begs: If you’re only going to follow one of her many tips, this is the one that it should be.

The best part is, you don’t need to run to the store or search Amazon to order fancy products or tools. To effectively deep-clean your shower, you only need three things. And they probably already live in your kitchen!

In the video, which has amassed 1.5 million likes, Amaro says to fill a new soap-dispensing dish brush (Amaro uses this OXO brush-and-stand combo ) with Dawn dish soap and white vinegar. Once that’s done, she says to stick the brush in your shower. Here’s the magic: Once a week, use the brush to scrub down scummy shower surfaces while you’re in the shower.

Why is Amaro’s hack so smart and effective? The ingredients inside the brush are key. You probably know white vinegar cuts through grime and hard water buildup, and that grease doesn’t stand a chance against liquid dish soap. The brush itself is also awesome: It holds your cleaning solution and dispenses it at a push of a button. Also, it kinda makes cleaning … fun! The idea to clean while you’re washing yourself is also a smart one because your steamy shower forms an ideal environment for breaking down whatever grime has been built up. Plus, it doesn’t really take that much extra time or additional water.

Thanks, Vanesa! This sure is a great hack.
