The Best New Groceries to Hit Grocery Store Shelves This June
published about 2 hours agoSummer days are here, and the latest products to hit grocery store shelves are hot, hot, hot! (Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.) This month’s favorites will be there for all of your summer activities (think: boozy ice pops for summer beach days, gourmet microwave popcorn for movie nights in, cheddar oat crackers for long road trips in the car, and much, much more). Rest assured, there’s plenty of newness at the grocery store to bring along on whatever your summer adventures may be.
I tried dozens of brand-new products, and these are the ones I’m most excited about this month.
1. Daily’s Poptails
These alcohol-infused freezer pops were crowd-pleasers at a small lake house get-together this past weekend where they hit the spot after a fun day in the sun. (Side note: Yay for hanging out with friends again!) The variety pack includes three flavors: strawberry, watermelon, and green apple. Watermelon was the group favorite.
Buy : Daily’s Poptails , $14.99 for a 12-pack at Target
2. Airly Oat Clouds
These tasty crackers come from a new company that’s committed to helping reverse climate change through food. Each 7.5-ounce box of crackers sold removes between 18 to 21 grams of CO2 from the air. On top of that goodness, they taste really good too! The Cheddar Oat Clouds are packed with salty, cheesy flavor and are a very welcome addition to my snack rotation.
Buy : Airly Oat Clouds , 14.97 for a 3-pack
3. Red Boat Kho Sauce
This braising sauce is meant to be simmered with your protein of choice until the sauce thickens and the meat is tender (20 to 30 minutes), but I had some thinly sliced beef in the fridge and decided to cook it with this sauce, stir-fry style, and ate it along with some fluffy white rice. The sauce is based on a family recipe from Red Boat Fish Sauce founder, Cuong Pham, and was developed to help home cooks make Vietnamese dishes at home.
Buy : Red Boat Kho Sauce , $8.95 at Red Boat
4. GoNanas Instant Banana Bread
Mug cake, but make it banana bread. All you need is a packet of this mix, a ripe banana, a mug, and a fork to make fresh banana bread in minutes. I was a little skeptical, as the recipe doesn’t require any additional liquid, but it came together and rose right before my eyes in the microwave. (Apparently Lifestyle Editor Lauren Masur was in disbelief too !) These pouches come in Original and Cinnamon Roll flavors — oh, and they’re also vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free.
Buy : GoNanas Instant Banana Bread , $21 for 6 at GoNanas
5. Omnom Cookies + Cream
While you might not find this in a traditional grocery store, let me tell you that this white chocolate bar is worth seeking out online. It’s made with real white chocolate (featuring full-fat Icelandic milk powder) and topped with two mildly bitter chocolate cookies (made with 70% Tanzania dark chocolate). While you’re on the Omnom website, don’t sleep on the Coffee + Milk option — it’s one of the most delicious chocolate bars I’ve ever had. And the packaging is beautiful to boot.
Buy : Omnom Cookies + Cream , $8.99 for 2.1 ounces at Omnom
6. Smartfood Krispy Kreme Original Glazed Doughnut
This limited-time flavor reminds me of caramel corn, but there’s something about the glaze that’s truly reminiscent of Krispy Kreme doughnuts (as advertised). You’ll want to keep this popcorn somewhere cool and dry so that the glaze doesn’t melt in the summer heat, but other than that it’s a winner in my book.
Buy : Smartfood Krispy Kreme Original Glazed Doughnut , $5.80 for 18 ounces on Instacart
7. Opopop Gourmet Popcorn
My husband and I have been making our way through all of the Marvel superhero movies in chronological order, which somehow serendipitously coincided with a taste test of this gourmet popcorn. It’s microwave popcorn … that’s all grown up. Fancy Butter is a classic, but Vanilla Cake Pop was easily my favorite of the bunch. (Kettle Corn fans will love it.)
Buy : Discovery Kit , $40 at Opopop
8. Purely Elizabeth Vanilla Chocolate Chip Ancient Grain Granola
This brand-new flavor from Purely Elizabeth tastes like a chocolate chip cookie in granola form. It’s made with organic ancient grains and lots of seeds, without any refined sugars. It’s also gluten-free, naturally sweetened with coconut sugar, and tastes delicious on yogurt or straight from the bag.
Buy : Purely Elizabeth Vanilla Chocolate Chip Ancient Grain Granola , $5.19 for 10 ounces at Target
