I’m a big fan of Mason jars for storing everything: fresh lemonade , cold brew , salad dressing , you name it! Stashing these kitchen essentials in similar jars not only saves space and improves fridge/pantry organization, but is also an aesthetically pleasing alternative to a collection of different sizes and shapes of plastic bottles. The only downfall? Pouring from Mason jars doesn’t always work well. Or should I say, it didn’t … until I found the Ergo Spout , the Amazon-beloved Mason jar accessory that transforms my favorite storage option into a dispenser.

Yep, you read that right. The Ergo Spout turns a Mason jar into a pitcher — just twist it on, press the dispenser with your thumb, and pour! The first thing I noticed when I got mine: Controlling the flow is so much easier with the dispenser than pouring straight out of the jar. The lid doesn’t form a perfect seal on the mouth (you wouldn’t want to tote it around in a bag, for example). However, it does stay snugly on the jar during pouring. And while it doesn’t fit on wide-mouth jars, you can put the spout on any standard-mouth jar , even larger ones .

Not surprisingly, I’m not the only one who’s in love with the Ergo spout (that’s part of what motivated me to buy it). It’s got a 4.4-star average rating on Amazon , and tons of glowing customer reviews. Customers say they love the accessory because it’s so versatile; because it fits on bigger vessels, they don’t have to constantly refill smaller jars. Another customer says they use it on a large jar as a detergent dispenser in the laundry room (brilliant idea).

Now that it’s warmer outside, I’m using my Ergo for fresh-squeezed lemonade . Next time I make my family brunch, I’ll use it for pancake syrup — it’ll be a lot easier (read: less messy) for little hands to pour from than the giant bottle of maple syrup I usually have out. Honestly, though? I’m not sure one Ergo is enough! I plan to invest in a few more for other summer must-haves — like my favorite cilantro vinaigrette and, of course, all the iced coffee.
