The Most Underrated Section at Costco That More People Should Be Talking About
published about 1 hour agoQuick: Name the best section at Costco! Did you say the freezer section? The super-cold room with all the produce? The snack aisle? I’m guessing you didn’t mention the nuts. And that’s definitely the right answer, in my humble opinion.
Of course, Costco is known for having great prices on pretty much all of the things, but where I really think it shines is in the nut department. Nuts can be very expensive, but they’re less expensive at Costco. (In general, Costco gets things for cheap because of the sheer amount their execs order. The order volume is super-high, so manufacturers can cut a deal and still make money. And then savings are passed onto you, the shopper.)
Anyway. Back to the nuts. I feel like people don’t talk about the nuts enough. The selection! The prices! The giant bags! That’s not to say people don’t talk about the nuts at all. In fact, I’ve been noticing that Kitchn writers (who always have their fingers on the pulse!) have had a bit to say lately, calling out a few key nutty purchases. Let’s take a look at three of the best nutty bargains on offer at Costco. (Side note: Nutty Bargains would be a great band name.)
1. Kirkland Signature Super Extra-Large Peanuts
Katie Workman wrote about these nuts, pointing out that a robust 40-ounce tin costs only $6.69 at Costco, while smaller containers cost more than double elsewhere. “They are generously salted, deeply nutty, and super crunchy,” she says. For what it’s worth, my mom loves these too! (Hi, mom!)
2. Kirkland Signature Roasted & Salted Shelled Pistachios
Technically, Lauren Manaker wrote about a 20-ounce bag of honey roasted pistachios, that she picks up at BJ’s. But Costco stocks a larger bag (24 ounces) for just $15.99. And these are just roasted and salted, which makes them even more versatile.
3. Blue Diamond Garlic, Herb & Olive Oil Almonds
Nilina Mason-Campbell called these flavorful almonds her new “ forever snack ,” which really got my attention! A snack that’s so good and so affordable, she plans to munch on it day in and day out? Sign me up. Because I’m sure you’re wondering: Costco’s price for this 20-ounce resealable bag of gourmet
