When I was a kid, the snack aisle at CVS was very much off-limits. Whenever I’d accompany my mom for an errand, it was clear that we meant business. We were strictly there to get prescriptions filled, paper goods secured, toiletries restocked — and get out. While the chip selection and the checkout aisle’s gums, mints, and candies were hard to resist, those years cemented in my mind the fact that this store was merely a quick stop for toothpaste and toilet paper, not so much for delicious treats.

Fast forward a few decades and I’m now the kind of girl who shows up to CVS with tote bags, ready for a full-on grocery shopping session. That’s not just my built-up childhood temptation talking, either: CVS has a seriously great snack and grocery selection, which they improved upon even more since the pandemic hit in 2020. And the prices are just as good as the selection (plus, if you sign up for the free store loyalty card, you can almost always get some sort of bonus coupon).

If you’re not up for an in-person trip, you can shop for grocery items at CVS online , spanning categories such as pantry, beverages, frozen food, breakfast, candy, gum, mints, and snacks. (Yes, my mind was blown too when I first learned this.) The convenience store has a ton of edible options to choose from, from niche and big brands alike, beyond the basic sweet and salty car snacks you used to pick up before heading out on a road trip.

Want to know more? I’ve rounded up some of the snack options available at CVS that took me by (very pleasant) surprise.

1. Solely Mango Fruit Jerky

Prepare to be amazed! As the name suggests, this mango fruit jerky contains just one ingredient: mango. Yes, that’s solely it.

2. Barbara’s Baked Original Cheese Puffs

How many cheese puff companies can say that they make their snacks with real aged cheddar and blue cheese?

3. Epic Oven Baked Pork Rinds

When I first stumbled upon this bag of Epic Oven Baked Pork Rinds in my local CVS, I had to do a double take to make sure I wasn’t in a Whole Foods. Talk about leveling up your car snacks!

5. Harvest Snaps Green Pea Snap Crisps

I feel pretty virtuous when I pop open a bag of these lightly salted Green Pea Snap Crisps from Harvest Snaps. They’re light, airy, delicious, and, most delightful of all, are shaped like perfect little pea pods.

6. Health-Ade Booch Pop

I consider this Booch Pop from Health-Ade to be a special treat, mostly because opening a can feels like a quasi happy hour. The bubbly carbonation gives me that extra boost I need to make it to dinner time.

7. Lesser Evil Veggie Sticks

8. Whisps Cheese Crisps

One of the best kinds of cheese is the kind that you can eat in chip form. I love these so much, I eat them by themselves, on salad instead of croutons, and even as crunchy soup toppers.

9. Emmy’s Organics Chocolate Covered Coconut Cookies

I love pretty much every single thing that Emmy’s Organics makes, but especially these Peanut Butter Bites. I keep them in the freezer and pop one out of the bag whenever I want a bite-sized treat.
