Keep It Casual in Earth Tones
A new line of table linens from a Los Angeles company adds breezy elegance to summer meals.
Checked tablecloths and napkins are common in your neighborhood bistro, red sauce joint or summer picnic basket. But at Morrow Soft Goods, a Los Angeles company owned by Michelle Paul and Stephanie Cleary, the gingham for its line of 100 percent linen table wares is subtler than the typical red, in tones like honey and cream. Until now, the company has specialized in linen bedding. The new kitchen and dining collection features napkins and place mats ($55 to $70 for four), tablecloths ($119 to $125), and aprons ($50 to $55) in checks, and in earthy solids like sage, terra cotta and apricot, colors that will easily take you into fall.
