Cheryl Day Launched an Online Store and I Want All of the Jams
published about 1 hour agoBaker Cheryl Day has earned plenty of fans at her James Beard Award-nominated Georgia storefront, Back in the Day Bakery, after almost two decades of turning out classic Southern favorites. She’s also found an audience around the country with her best-selling cookbooks and colorful, thoughtful Instagram . Now, with the opening of her own online shop , anyone can embrace the same nostalgic style as the bakery and have a small taste of Savannah sent to their door.
Day announced the shop late last week on her Instagram, saying that her “small but mighty” team put it together and that they hope shoppers “will think of us as you plan your small gatherings at home.” After scrolling through the colorful little shop, I can guarantee I’ll be ordering a few items.
Among the other things on the site, Day sells her own line of provisions named after her mother, Janie Q. “Janie Q was a strong Black woman with a green thumb and a passion for preserving fruit with botanicals to create full-flavored jams,” the website explains. “Creating a small batch provisions line has been a dream of mine for so many years,” Day added on Instagram. Turns out it’s been a dream of mine, too, since I can’t wait to get my hands on these beautiful-looking jars. The store is stocked with low-sugar, no-pectin classic jams with a modern twist and features Peach Lavender, Strawberry Chamomile, and Blueberry Rose varieties to start.
Beyond the jams, the site sells “Cheryl’s favorite things,” including gold measuring cups and spoons, Soul Masala Chai Powders , spreading knives, jam jar drinking glasses, and a die-cut bookmark shaped like a stick of butter (yes, please!). There’s also merch from the bakery itself, including a cake pin and set of stickers, all of the cookbooks from Day and her partner, and greeting cards, some of which feature the Days in illustrated form.
