Our 10 Best Stuffing Recipes of All Time
updated May 29, 2019I’ve said it before and I’ll eagerly say it again every November: Stuffing is the real star of the Thanksgiving table. (At least in my house!) Whether you’re serving turkey, ham, or something entirely different, your holiday dinner is not complete without a casserole dish piled high with stuffing, baked so it’s crispy on the outside and soft and tender through the center.
The only difficult part is deciding what kind of stuffing to serve. There are a ton of options when it comes to stuffing — from golden-brown classics with lots of fresh herbs, to more modern takes that swap in cornbread or smart supermarket shortcuts. To help you figure out what to put on the table this year, we’ve rounded up 10 of our all-time favorite stuffing recipes below.
1. Southern-Style Cornbread Dressing
It has all the usual aromatics, but this classic swaps the country-style bread for cornbread. If you’re tight on time, start with the store-bought stuff; otherwise, if you’re feeling inspired, it’s worth making your own.
2. How To Make the Very Best Thanksgiving Stuffing
As much as I always want to try something new, I can’t seem to break away from this traditional classic with sautéed aromatics and lots of fresh sage.
3. How To Make Wild Mushroom Stuffing
This subtle twist on the classic is guaranteed to please both the stuffing purists and those pulling for something a little more adventurous.
4. Easy 5-Ingredient Shortcut Stuffing
This stuffing recipe is so easy, you barely have to measure anything. Smart shortcuts make it the best of both worlds: minimum prep, maximum flavor.
5. Everything Bagel Stuffing
Be the Friendsgiving hero who brings everything bagel stuffing to the table this year. Swap the classic bread cubes for chopped-up everything bagels and you will not regret it.
6. How To Make Thanksgiving Stuffing in a Slow Cooker
If the oven can’t possibly hold another casserole dish, this is the smartest way to get classic stuffing on the table. Bonus: The slow cooker keeps it warm until you’re ready to serve dinner.
7. Canadian-Syrian Thanksgiving Stuffing
Use bharat — a classic Middle Eastern spice blend with allspice, black pepper, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cardamom, and cloves — in place of your usual herbs to give your classic stuffing a warm, spiced twist.
8. Gluten-Free Cornbread and Mushroom Stuffing
Whether you’re gluten-free or not, this mix of cornbread, mushrooms, and roasted pecans is always a hit with everyone.
9. Classic Sage & Onion Bread Dressing (Stuffing)
Loaded with onion, celery, and plenty of sage, this side dish staple is reminiscent of the Pepperidge Farm-style stuffing you grew up with.
10. Eggo Waffle Stuffing
Inspired by our love of Stranger Things , this twist on the classic is your ticket to bringing nostalgic whimsy to the table.
