“Love Bombs” Are a Tiny Way to Make Valentine’s Day Feel Special This Year

published Now

For adults, Valentine’s Day means showing love in the form of flowers, dinners, and other showy celebrations, but for kids, it often means the same thing as many other holidays: candy! Well, candy and cards and reminding their friends and classmates that they love them. This year, however, with many schools not meeting in person, the classic Valentine’s Day party won’t be happening for most people. But creative kids and families are still finding ways to celebrate, and one of those ideas involves making “love bombs .”

First there were hot chocolate bombs , then the tea bombs , now the love bombs — but unlike the first two, these don’t require hot water, just an explosion of creativity. As seen on Instagram , these bombs are basically just sweet little packages of Valentine’s Day gifts that kids (or adults!) can drop off at their friends’ doorsteps. The love bombs consists of candy, stickers, balloons, sprinkles, nail polish, lip-shaped straws — really, anything goes. All that matters is that it fits the theme of the day — with lots of red and pink, kisses, and hearts — and shows your appreciation for the other person.

Depending on the age of the kid (or, let’s be honest, for adults looking for a good way to celebrate Galentine’s Day from a distance), some homemade treats could add a little personal touch, like Valentine’s Day Oreo truffles, pink puppy chow , sugar cookie bark , or dark chocolate heart brownies . Round it out with some fun face masks (either the protective kind or the skin care type, really), some bath bombs, and a nice homemade card. Shop Sweet Lulu, who posted about this idea on Instagram a few weeks ago, also has some great ideas for things to include .

There are probably so many people out there who could use an explosion of love on their doorstep right now. It’s been a hard year for many, and this is a small, sweet way to show others that you care.

How do you plan on celebrating Valentine’s Day this year? Let us know in the comments!
